# Discovery Page Mechanics

The Discovery Page is the central marketplace of the Surge Hub. Unlike traditional launchboards that display a static, chronological list of daily submissions, Surge Discovery is a dynamic, algorithmically sorted engine. It is designed specifically to cut through the noise of infinite AI generation and surface only the highest-signal projects.

For founders, this is the main stage where your execution is rewarded with visibility. For investors and backers, it is a precision tool for finding and evaluating early-stage alpha.

#### **1. The Sorting Engine (Navigating Signal)** 

The default feed is ordered by our core attention algorithms, allowing backers to view the ecosystem through different lenses of momentum:

* **30-Day Trending** (The Conviction Index): This highlights projects that have maintained the highest total Ignite allocation over the month. This sort filters out "flash-in-the-pan" hype and surfaces founders who are successfully retaining their community and consistently executing on their roadmap.
* **7-Day Velocity** (The Momentum Index): This tracks the fastest-growing support over the current week. Velocity is the heartbeat of the platform, allowing investors to spot breakout projects the moment they begin capturing the market's attention.
* **Newest** (Raw Alpha): A chronological feed of the latest verified projects. This is designed for early adopters and angel investors looking to be the very first to discover and support a new idea.
* **Followed** (Your Portfolio): A personalized feed strictly showing updates and cards from the projects you are actively tracking.

#### **2. Precision Filtering**

Backers can slice the database using a secondary filter bar to find exact matches for their investment thesis or technical interests:

* **Category** & **Stage**: Filter the ecosystem by specific sectors (e.g., AI, DeFi, GameFi, RWA) and development maturity (from Idea and Prototype to Live Product).
* **The Broadcast Dropdown**: Because Surge is a video-first platform, users can filter the feed by broadcast status. You can view projects that have an Upcoming stream scheduled, founders who are broadcasting Live Now, or browse a library of Past Livestreams (VODs) to watch previous AMAs and demos.
* **Active Tasks Filter**: For users looking to earn Project-Specific Ignites (PI), this toggle instantly filters the feed to show only projects that currently have an active weekly task budget and open bounties.
* **Hackathon Toggles**: Dedicated filters allow users to isolate projects participating in official ecosystem events and hackathons.

#### 3. The Anatomy of the Project Card

 Every project is represented by a highly functional card that gives backers crucial context at a glance, minimizing friction between discovery and support:

* **Video-First Hierarchy**: A short video pitch sits at the center of the card. Investors can watch the founder explain the core problem and solution without having to click into the full project profile.
* **Dynamic Badging**: Cards feature absolute-positioned, visual indicators based on the project's real-time state. If a project has an active PI budget, a "Tasks Available" badge appears. If the founder is streaming, a pulsing red "Live" badge draws immediate attention.
* **At-a-Glance Stats**: The card displays the project's category, stage, and a concise one-liner description.
* **Frictionless Allocation**: The "Ignite" button is accessible directly on the card. If a backer loves the video pitch, they can instantly allocate their global capacity from the main feed, boosting the project's ranking in real-time.<br>

#### **The Automated Changelog & Investor Protection**

The biggest risk in early-stage discovery is the "abandoned project" - startups that generate a massive launch day spike and are never updated again.

Surge Discovery protects investors and backers through the Changelog architecture. The project page features an automated timeline that tracks real-world progress. When a founder pushes a major code update, verifies a new revenue milestone, or completes a roadmap deliverable, it is permanently stamped onto their public timeline.

If a project stops shipping, its timeline goes dead, the community withdraws their time-decaying Ignites, and the algorithmic engine automatically removes the project from the Discovery feed. On Surge, visibility is a privilege reserved for those who execute.
